What i bought at the Handmade Cavalcade

Every time i vend at a craft fair, i get such a wandering eye... I can't help it, I mean you are surrounded by such great quality handmade wares for 8 hours, and you wouldn't be able to resist either!

At this year's Fall Handmade Cavalcade, I felt like splurging! And I didn't have to look far for a cure for my shopping bug. I have been looking for a small charm necklace that is very tight around my neck - like on a 15" chain, so it would always fall above my shirts and i found the perfect one in this hand cut gun necklace by Caja Jewelry. [I also have my eye on the bomb, maybe i will pick that one up at a later date]. Just look at the detail. Really gorgeous. And after limping through a charlie horse in my calf all week [don't laugh, i bored many people to tears complaining about it all day] I spotted just the thing to soak my troubles away - this scented bath salt soak by Beyond The Picket Fence. Yum, love the scent - Lavendar and Geranium - it also comes in lemon and sage [I think, don't hold me to that], and look at this great bottle! I don't have to hide it away, it actually looks quite nice on the shelf in the bathroom.SEE! I didn't splurge that much! I only bought a couple of things! Ohhh, do I have to report on the three cupcakes and pumpkin bread i bought from the Groovy Baker? Shhhhh! It doesn't count if none of it came home with me :)

First Glimpse of Clay, Wood & Cotton

After the Fall Handmade Cavalcade in Beacon on Saturday, I got to stroll down Main Street and drop in on all the galleries open until 9, but also lots of the retail stores, and the Grand Opening of Clay, Wood & Cotton. The store looked great! All painted a nice bright white, it really allowed all the scarves, pillows, aprons and toys to really pop out at you!
I spy some super cute little duckie and doggie hand sewn plush toys from Windows of Agate. Each one has a little story attached with the personality of the little critter. Mine likes to watch SciFi - just like me :)I spy some GORGEOUS pillows by Alexandra Ferguson, what great bold colors, and all in felt made from recycled water bottles... OMG and what a great pairing with this plush toys from ZooGuu - sooo bright and colorful.

Ooooh and lookie here. My scarves look so mod hanging there like that. Hope they do well, they looked great in the store. And I especially love that Box Designs Originals clock, i could totally see that in my apartment.

And don't forget... Grand Opening Party October 10 at the store! See their facebook fan page for more info and to RSVP. It should be great fun!-Kimm

Coverage on OffManhattan

OffManhattan.com covers our Fall Handmade Cavalcade! KimmChi gets a mention and you can see the thumbnail of my black double grey hoody which i will have this weekend. I know some of their writers are making the trip from Brooklyn to Beacon on Saturday to do a follow up story about the great eco and local wares available.

Don't forget - Fall Handmade Cavalcade this Saturday!

Have I been reminding you about the Fall Handmade Cavalcade on Saturday, September 12 (11am to 7pm, Beacon, NY - DIRECTIONS)? I feel like I've been a little lax. Well, I'll have the new designs in tow - as well as some 2-for scoop neck tee shirt and sales on summer dresses to clear room for the Fall Designs!

So if a deal can't entice you - maybe some of these sponsors will be!

There will be food from:

The Groovy Baker from nearby East Fishkill, NY, will be inside providing socially conscious treats that are both good for the environment and decadently delicious.

Goodie bags stuffed with SWAG from:

NEW Fall color combos in the shop

Well, it is officially after Labor Day and time to spruce up the shop with some new Fall Designs.
Long Sleeves abound in brown, purple, black, navy and grey!
I've begun introducing some designs in the more traditional full long sleeve rather than the ballet neck 3/4 sleeve i've used for years. Personally I prefer the 3/4 sleeve - it shows off your neckline, but i continually got requests for full sleeves, so here you are! Available in these designs for now:

I'm happy to adapt one of the other 3/4 sleeve designs into the Full Long Sleeve - just email me and we can work something out. Which do you prefer? 3/4 sleeve ballet neck or long sleeve?

Exclusive Scarves at Clay, Wood and Cotton

I just finished screen printing and shipping these custom scarves to Clay, Wood & Cotton in Beacon New York at 149 Main Street. [MAP]

Stay tuned on their facebook page for updates about more merch and more info, with pics. They are set to open in September - with a fun filled grand opening on October 10 - so mark your calendars and RSVP here.

They have curated a wonderful shop full of many talented indie artists with a bold graphic sensibility, and it looks like they'll be selling arty and craft goods, children's goods, aprons, art, kits - oh and even a book signing in the works!

Looks like one to keep an eye on.
