Product Collaboration with Groundsel

Govenors Island has been an incredible source of inspiration and projects for The {NewNew} pop up Treasure Chest Boutique. Each designer has read through the history of the island, poured through archival photos of the island's history and in many cases visited the island itself to get a sense of the place. Sometimes with all this looking to the past you ignore the inspiration right in front of you! Simone and I really tried not to do that! We looked to our personal artistic skills and materials at hand to create a unique product for the island that spoke to New York as a place and New Yorkers overall while having a simple and useful function. We collaborated to create a unique line of silkscreened draw string bags with a fun fabric of New York Streets - from Williamsburg to Chelsea - silkscreened with some of my designs and fashioned into these handy drawstring bags.

They'll be available all summer long at our Handmade Treasure Chest Boutique on Govenor's Island
