What I bought at Brooklyn Indie Market - Pt 2

DAY TWO
at Brooklyn Indie Market

I was more on a mission and had scouted out what i wanted to get and had some gifts in mind - plus there were new vendors at Brooklyn Indie Market, so I had to peruse the new wares. New vendors that day included housewares by Peppersprouts, dresses and by Better Than Jam, women's and children's clothing by Vyphuis Designs, cards by Little Bunny and Jewelry by Wish By Felicity.

SPOILER ALERT - if you are a member of my family, please do not continue reading as some of your gifts will be mentioned below!

I have seen Rebecca Shepherd jewelry around and truly love each collection she comes out with. This Gong Collection is just gorgeous - simple, elegant and wearable with almost anything - perfect for my sister! So I got this lovely necklace and matching earrings.

Next up on the gift front was stocking stuffers! We love to fill the stockings with sort of unique items that are always a surprise. I thought Nordea Soaperie's felted soaps were perfect for this! Great unisex stocking stuffers - one of her classic soaps with a hand felted exterior to provide exfoliation as you scrub, and the best thing is as you use it the felting shrinks and wraps tighter around the soap. And she's just awesome, i could pick the color pallete and soap i wanted for my custom gifts - just perfect!

Every year for Christmas, I try to buy my sister one new ornament for her Christmas tree, and this year i was so happy that Peppersprouts started doing these great laser cut ornaments! This is a little dear repeated in a circle, i love it - and so will our Christmas Tree!

My other tremendous splurge cam in the form of tons of new Better Than Jam clothes that were on sale and i just couldn't resist buying that top, dress and skirt i always wanted.

What I bought at Brooklyn Indie Market - Pt 1

I used The {NewNew} day this past weekend at Brooklyn Indie Market to get some vital shopping and trading in before the holidays. Because I um, went a little overboard, i will share my purchases in two installments.

DAY ONE

Day one was great fun, despite the awful rain! I was stationed in between KnitKnit and WindowsOfAgate. Both of whom I have purchased from in the past! I own this stunning necklace from KnitKnit and I bought my nephew his first doggie from WindowsOfAgate - an adorable little plush dachshund who came with his own name and personality (he likes sci-fi!). I did get a very adorable ornament and necklace from KnitKnit this time around. The ornament will be the first on my Christmas tree this year - a fantastic brown eye ball :) YAY Similar to these earrings. And I also got this really cool necklace - a simple cord with a button and some hand sewn elements - very cool and sorta of organic looking... I love it.

And before I even got there that day, i knew I wanted two hats from Rocks and Salt. I hadn't seen them at Brooklyn Indie Market in a while, so was thrilled they were there both days. I knoew I wanted a little cap and a slouchy hat because i see Fofolle wearing it all the time, and since I want to be her, i figured i could start with the hat.

And who was the one that got away on Saturday... the one i regret not buying - May Luk! I have given gifts of May Luk ceramics as well as buying this gorgeous vase for myself, and this time i was enamored of what i call the Magritte plate - a fancy little bowler hat and bicycle - OH MAN do i regret not getting it - can't stop thinking about it... should have offered a sweet trade... May if you read this - you know what i want!

Day Trip to the Type Director's Club

I recently stumbled upon the website for the Type Director's Club - an international organization for lovers of typography in both in print and on screen - open to industry professionals and others. And hey, I love typography, and they were having this great looking exhibit called "Type as Object" so some friend's and I decided to go check it out. Because the space hold classes and has a reference library open to it's members, they require an appointment to view any exhibits, which are pretty intimate. There was a class going on so i couldn't take photos, but here are some from the brochure for the show on view from 21 October to 20 November.

It was really very cool, the color palletes and clean lines were just great. And I got to learn about Alexander GĂrard.
