Inspiring

Ever since i took that jewelry making class at Etsy a couple of weeks ago, I have been having co much fun making new things. Like this oh so cute delicate little rings with twisted sterling silver. As you can see, I couldn't stop making them heh heh heh.

First I heated up the silver until the ends formed into balls, then I put them all in my pickle for a couple of minutes, rinsed them off, and formed them around my ring mandrel and viola!

Rings

Well, I got out my hammer and anvil today and made tons of little rings - hammered, formed, twisted and in some cases oxidized a bunch.
First I used my small torch on the silver to create nice little balls on the ends of the wire, then I hammered it flat and formed it around a mandrel to get the size I wanted. They are very delicate.
I think I might use some of the for the goodie bags for the Brooklyn Homeshow I am doing on March 8 - They are nice small and eye catching - hmm, I made like six of them, that should be enough :)

Jewelry Workshop at Etsy

On February 3rd, Etsy Labs had a jewelry workshop with Danielle, aka PreciousPups.Etsy.com which I attended with about five other women. I got to meet some great ladies - one of whom, was BrooklynBee.Etsy.com, another member of The {NewNew} Street Team (it was great to meet you!).

I really wanted to brush up on my technique - and this class was perfect for that. Danielle went over the basics of wire working, wrapping and polishing using the flex shaft. I learned that a bic pen is the perfect size to form ear wires and that I need to get myself some polishing compound! I go back next week for a mini workshop on soldering and the torch - I can't wait!
